Birthmarks

Birthmarks (Hemangiomas, Port-Wine Stains, Congenital Nevi)

Birthmarks are special marks or spots that people are born with. They can come in different colors, shapes, and sizes.

Hemangiomas are red or purple marks made up of extra blood vessels. They often show up on a baby’s skin and might fade as they grow.

Port-Wine Stains are dark red or purple marks that look like splashes of wine. They stay on the skin and don’t fade.

Congenital Nevi are moles that people are born with. They can vary in size and color.

Cradle Cap (Seborrheic Dermatitis)

Cradle Cap is a condition where babies get yellowish, greasy patches on their scalp that look like thick dandruff.

 Diaper Dermatitis (Diaper Rash)

Diaper Rash happens when a baby’s skin gets irritated from wearing a diaper for too long, or from moisture, friction, or certain products.

The skin becomes red, sore, and sometimes bumpy. If it doesn't improve with over the counter diaper creams, a visit with a dermatologist for prescription cream management may be necessary.

Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis)

Eczema is a skin condition where the skin becomes dry, itchy, and inflamed. It can appear in patches and is common in children, though adults can get it too.

The exact cause isn’t clear, but it’s often linked to allergies or asthma. Now we have a wide range of treatments for eczema.

It is important to keep this condition under control as chronic eczema can cause sleep disturbances as well as impact daily quality of life due to itch severity.

Hives (Urticaria)

Hives are raised, red, itchy bumps on the skin that can appear suddenly.

They’re usually caused by an allergic reaction or something irritating the skin, but they can also appear for no reason.

While most hives resolve on their own, some remain for weeks and may require medication management.

Molluscum Contagiosum

Molluscum Contagiosum is a skin infection that causes small, round, and shiny bumps to form on the skin.

It's usually harmless and spreads through skin-to-skin contact. Treatments include topical creams, liquid nitrogen, currette and more.

Skin Infections (Impetigo, Ringworm, Cellulitis)

Impetigo is a common bacterial skin infection that causes red sores that can break open, ooze, and form a yellowish crust. It’s contagious but can be treated with antibiotics.

Ringworm is a fungal infection that creates a red, circular rash with a ring-like appearance. It’s contagious and can spread through direct contact or contaminated objects.

Cellulitis is a bacterial skin infection that makes the skin red, swollen, and painful. It can happen when bacteria enter through a cut or scratch and needs medical treatment.

Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a skin condition where patches of skin lose their color, turning white. It happens when the cells that make skin pigment stop working.

It’s not contagious, and the cause is often linked to the immune system attacking the pigment cells.

Warts

Warts are small, bumpy growths on the skin caused by a virus. They’re usually rough to the touch and can appear anywhere on the body. They’re contagious and spread by touch.
